Surviving Satan’s Sudden Attack

But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand. Acts 28v3

So when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live.” Acts 28v4

But he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm. Acts 28v5

However, they were expecting that he would swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But after they had looked for a long time and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god. Acts 28v6

1️⃣ The devil doesn’t need a reason to attack you.

2️⃣ Don’t look for snakes, gather sticks.

3️⃣ Just as a snake’s venom spreads through a bite, Satan gains access when we agree with his lies.

4️⃣ You can’t overcome the devil the way you overcome life’s hardships.

Storms, we survive.
Snakes, we shake.

We are called to:
🙇‍♂️ Submit to God and resist the Devil (James 4v7; 1 Pet 5v8-9)
🛡️ Stand firm against the Devil’s schemes by putting on the armor of God (Eph 6v11, 13)
🚪 Don’t give the Devil a foothold (Eph 4v27)
🩸 Overcome him by the blood of Jesus and your testimony (Rev 12v11)
📖 Use the word of God as a weapon (Mt 4v4)
💡 Walk in the light (1 Jn 1v7)

Demons on the inside, we remove.
Demons on the outside, we resist.

5️⃣ The snakes God exposes, He expects you to exterminate.

When God brings things to the surface, it’s not so that you can get better at hiding it.

6️⃣ The snake attacks what God intends to use.
