Let’s talk about Mariah the Scientist...

Honestly, I went into this album (Hearts Sold Separately) ready to be unimpressed, underwhelmed, and unmoved, but to be honest, this project has turned me from a Mariah skeptic to a Mariah disciple, and I not really sure how to feel about that. Mariah has received newfound commercial and critical acclaim in 2025 with her lead single Burning Blue which became her first song ever to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, with the song also becoming her first top 40 hit, peaking at #25, and also her first #1 on the rhythmic airplay as it led to many fans and listeners resonating with the deeply vulnerable and vivid portrayal of the level of devotion a partner is willing to provide to their lover.
All of the success of Burning Blue has culminated in her 4th studio album, Hearts Sold Separately being released August 22nd 2025. Overall, I would say my favorite songs would be Sacrifice, United nations + 1000 ways to Die, Eternal Flame, Is it a Crime, Burning Blue, and Rainy Days.
