We were heading to Svaneti in the northwestern part of Georgia, situated in the central Caucasus Mountains and surrounded by up to 5,000-meter peaks. Ushba mountain with its twin summits really stands out. We stayed in Mestia, the highland townlet in Svaneti.

The region is also famous for its culture, culinary and unique Svan towers, the oldest are dated from the 9th century.

Because of its specific location, the freeride skiing conditions are one of the best in the world. This time the amount of fresh snow was huge and the avalanche risk was high, so we had to avoid exposed terrains.

Odpravili smo se proti pokrajini Svaneti na severozahodu Gruzije, ki leži v osrednjem Kavkaškem gorovju in je obkrožena z pettisočaki. Gora Ushba z dvojnima vrhovoma res izstopa. Locirani smo bili v Mestiji, največjem kraju v Svanetiji.

Regija je znana tudi po svoji kulturi, kulinaričnih in edinstvenih stolpih, najstarejši pa so iz 9. stoletja.

Zaradi svoje specifične lege so razmere za turno smučanje ene najboljših na svetu. Tokrat je bila količina svežega snega ogromna in nevarnost plazov velika (4. stopnja), zato smo se morali izogibati smučanju po izpostavljenih terenih.
