#PrinceHarry and #DuchessMeghan attended the Whistler Invictus Games Welcome Ceremony, marking a historic moment as the 2025 Games introduced winter adaptive sports for the first time, including alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, biathlon, and skeleton. ⛷🏂🏅 Indoor sports are taking place in Vancouver, while Whistler hosts the winter sports.

On their way to Whistler, the Sussexes stopped in Squamish Nation for a visit to the Language Nest, where they participated in weaving and drumming activities. 🎶🧵🥁 The visit ended with a special children’s performance. For the Squamish Nation, this visit symbolized an important step toward reconciliation, addressing a long-standing disappointment from past royal visits. Notably, King George VI and the Queen Mother bypassed the community in 1939, despite efforts to welcome them. “It was heartbreaking for our people,” recalled Chief Williams, who described Harry and Meghan’s visit as “righting a wrong” and strengthening ties. He highlighted how the Squamish are now part of the Invictus family, contributing their cultural and spiritual traditions to the Games.

Canadian singer Michael Bublé introduced the couple on stage and surprised the crowd with an impromptu performance of Feeling Good. Harry acknowledged the freezing -9°C temperatures with a touch of humor: “You all came up here knowing you were going to get cold, so thank you for the support!” ❄️

He even spotted Whistler’s mayor, Jack Crompton, and joked: “My ginger friend!” before turning to the audience with a smile, asking: “Are there any other gingers in the house?” The crowd cheered in response.

Harry then invited Meghan to join him on stage, teasing: “Now she’s going to sing!” Meghan quickly laughed it off, saying: “No!” before thanking the crowd warmly: “Thank you, everybody. Have the best time!”
