Let’s check out the 2026 Hyundai Palisade! And thanks @homefieldapparel for sponsoring this video.
The new Palisade three-row SUV debuted at the New York International Auto Show, which means we can’t test drive and review it yet. Reviews will soon be in the pipeline from a lot of your favorite reviewers and outlets, though.
The Hyundai Palisade is a huge deal. Since it and its platform twin, the Kia Telluride, debuted in 2018, they’ve become easy choices for buyers in the USA. Every time one of my friends asks me which three-row to buy, I say: “What are you looking at?” Almost every time, one of these two wins out.
But seven years is a lifetime in the car world, so it’s time for a new generation: the 2026 Palisade. And for the first time ever, the Palisade gets a hybrid option and an XRT Pro off-road trim.
There’s no official price for the 2026 Palisade yet, but we learned plenty about it in New York. Motor Trend expects the base model to start at around $40,000, and I sat in one of the fancier Calligraphy models on stage.
The new Palisade has a presence. It’s big, boxy, and has headlights and taillights with sharp cuts in the styling, making the lights look almost gemstone-like day and night. The current Telluride and Palisade are known for their on-road comfort, driver-assistance features, and high-quality materials. (Automakers would describe that as “premium,” which is a word I’m sick of.)
The SUV will come with two powertrain options: a 3.5-liter V6 internal-combustion engine with an estimated 287 horsepower, 260 lb.-ft. of torque, and 5,000-pound towing capacity, as well as a 2.5-liter, turbocharged hybrid powertrain with an estimated 329 horsepower, 339 pound-feet, a 4,000-pound towing capacity, and more than 600 miles of range. On paper, the hybrid would be my preferred choice, because 600 miles of range is a joy.
The other big addition for the new Palisade is the XRT Pro off-road edition. The XRT Pro gets an appearance and mechanical changes like an electronic rear limited-slip differential; a higher ground clearance by an inch; 18-inch wheels and all-terrain tires; all-wheel drive (AWD); mud, sand, and snow driving modes; functional orange recovery hooks on the front and rear; a tow hitch; and more. Those upgrades won’t make the Palisade XRT Pro into the most hardcore trail-tackler in the world, but they will make a buyer feel like an explorer — and that’s all most buyers want anyway.
In terms of passenger space in the new Palisade, an 8-seater layout is standard. The second row can be optioned with captain’s chairs to make the Palisade feel like a fancier ride and turn the SUV into a 7-seater. We found NASCAR driver @Parker_Kligerman in the third row of one of the Palisades on display, so he helped walk us through the interior.
