The Grand Carousel is a carousel located in the International Street section of Kings Island. It is one of the oldest attractions at the park, having been built in 1926, and originally operating at Coney Island before being relocated to Kings Island for the grand opening of the park in 1972. It is one of two carousels at the park. The other is located at Planet Snoopy under the name Character Carousel. The Grand Carousel was constructed in 1926, and was designed with over 20,000 sheets of 23-karat gold, and 2,000 sheets of sterling silver. The carousel features forty-eight horses, all wood-carved by hand. The carousel was later relocated in 1972 in time for the grand opening of Kings Island, and it continues operation to this day. It is located not too far from behind the Eiffel Tower. The carousel is one of the oldest rides still operating at the park, even being more than forty-five years older than The Racer. The ride was manufactured by Philadelphia Toboggan Company, the same company that manufactured The Racer, Woodstock Express, and the ride cars for The Beast. The music is provided by a Wurlitzer model 157 military band organ. The Song is “Hallelujah Chorus”.
