Qualifications Needed
You need to be 18 or over and hold a full car driving license before you can become an HGV Truck Driver.

Steps to become a HGV/LGV Driver
•Get your car driving license
•Get a medical & obtain a medical exam report (Form D4) from your doctor
•Apply for a provisional lorry license
•Sit your theory test
•Take the driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Test
•Take the relevant category practical test

Types of HGV/LGV Driving Licences
•Category B Vehicle = Light Van up to 3.5 tonne.
•Category C1 Vehicle = LGV up to 7.5 tonne.
•Category C Vehicle = Rigid Vehicle over 7.5 tonne with a trailer up to 750kg.
•Category C+E Vehicle = articulated vehicles over 7.5 tonne with trailers up to 750kg.
