Here's a remedy for the broken starter spring dilemma. I saw this on You Tube and thought I'd give it a whirl and it worked. I did need to heat up the starter
spring and turn it 180 degrees and bend it out to make it catch. The Kick start lever took the majority of the time by reversing the lever and welding the tab.
