I often see young and beginner jazz drummers playing with bad ride cymbal technique which forces them to work much harder than they should in order to keep time.
In this video, I talk about how to generate good rebound and tone using the FINGERS. Using the fingers is incredibly important to being able to play a smooth and consistent ride pattern over a long period of time without getting tired with a good tone.
Your wrists are also EXTREMELY important but in this video I wanted to talk about the benefits of using your fingers.
Check out my other video to hear me talk about incorporating your wrist to playing the ride cymbal.
If you are interested in taking Skype lessons, email me at Qtipjazzdrummerlessons@gmail.com. Whether it's a technical, conceptual or a creativity issue, I'm happy to help out with any issues you are having with your playing that you'd like to improve upon.
Thanks for checking the video out!
