As of 1 April 2025, the food security situation in Gaza has deteriorated dramatically, driven by intensified humanitarian access restrictions and insecurity. The closure of all border crossings, with no humanitarian aid entering since 2 March 2025 and the ceasefire breakdown have created a highly volatile and extremely challenging environment for humanitarian response.
Critical food infrastructure has been severely impacted in the south of the Gaza Strip. Following displacement orders, at least nine Rafah and Khan Younis community kitchens were disrupted. Some have been relocated and are attempting to resume operations, but many remain non-functional.
