Councilman Conway proposes local public power authority to combat rising BGE costs

A rally was held over the weekend at City Hall to protest BGE rate hikes, utility debt, and shutoffs. For months, Baltimore-area residents and business owners have raised concerns about their skyrocketing BGE bills.
City Councilman Mark Conway says they have been working on the BGE issue for a year now.
"We have folks coming to the City Council complaining about the inability to pay for medication, their rent or oxygen," Conway said on the "C4 and Bryan Nehman" show on Monday. "We've been working really, really hard to figure out what we can do from a policy perspective to make sure that we can keep rates down, that we can make energy affordable and accessible to everybody."
