CROWN PRINCESS ALEXIA BAPTISM - NO SOUND

Crown Princess Alexia was baptised in an impressive ceremony in the Grand Hall of the Athens Palace which was converted, for the occasion, into a "Palace Chapel". The Holy Temple which was installed came from the famous Greek battleship Averoff. The silver font as well as the other silver items used in the religious ceremony were the same as those used for the baptism of the two kings - the present King Constantine and his grand father King Constantime. They were presented to the Greek Royal Family, almost a hundred years ago, by the Greek armed forces. QUEEN MOTHER FREDERIKA acted as God Mother while representatives from the armed forces acted as God Parents, in line with tradition. Also present were the Greek government, headed by newly sworn Prime Minister STEFANOS STEFANO-POULOS. the Greek and Danish royal families, leaders of the armed forces, the educational world, Greek Justice, leaders of parties, the physicians of Queen Anna Maria and representatives from all phases of Greek life. ARCHBISHOP CHRYSOSTOMOS officiated in the ceremony assisted by Palace Priest KOSSONIS and other clergymen. Crown Princess Alexia was immersed three times in the font containing blessed water.
