THE HEAVENS WERE CURSING MY DESTINY
I woke up from a long lethargy and I found myself in the middle of a gigantic wasteland, fog and sand storms raged…
...This infamous desolate place... In a moment of mental clarity, I realized that I was dead.
Confused and consumed by anguish, I wandered among trees with twisted silhouettes, while the air arrived loaded with fetid waves.
In the distance, a human form was attacked by monstrous birds that pecked and squawked terrifyingly.
Whispering and thundering bursts echoes reached my ears as if the heavens were cursing my destiny.
In a moment of mental clarity, I realized that I was dead.
In a moment of mental clarity, I realized that I was dead.
In the distance… In the distance… In the distance…
I saw the remains of people I once knew.
Whispering and thundering bursts echoes reached my ears as if the heavens were cursing my destiny.

We are excited to announce that GRAVEYARD WINDS has joined the Awakening Records roster with their debut full-length album!
Colombian death metal mongers, GRAVEYARD WINDS, have slowly but assuredly been building their brand of classic death metal since their 2018 formation. They feature cavernous vocals, abyssal riffs, and traditional death metal structures, with doom influences, cosmic horror atmospheres, poetic lyrics, and a funeral tone. This approach sets them apart from their Colombian peers.
After independently releasing two promo tracks in 2021, the band unleashed its four-track EP "Assault to the Coffin" in 2022 through Polish label Fallen Temple, which was very well received in the band's local scene.
GRAVEYARD WINDS's debut full-length album, "Those, Who Come with the Mist," will be released through Awakening Records on November 28, 2025. Featuring drummer Josh Kano, lead guitarist Sebas Valencia, vocalist Mauricio Arcila "Klisgor," bassist Camilo "Slayer" Londoño, and rhythm guitarist Carlos Zea, GRAVEYARD WINDS has crafted eight gloomy, atmospheric, and brutal tracks.
Leading off the album is the band's titular track, which fully captures GRAVEYARD WINDS's sonic blueprint. The ominous sampled intro, decorated with haunting, howling winds and a tolling bell, captures a horror-esque atmosphere in the vein of BLACK SABBATH's "Black Sabbath" and METALLICA's "For Whom the Bell Tolls."
Meanwhile, the following tracks — "Funerary Nymphs," "Hyperboreal Cavernosities," "Spectrum," and "Escape of 1692" — capture a precision-like fury, while the lyrical content explores classic horror literature. Standout track and album closer "The Heavens Were Cursing My Destiny" hammers the proverbial nail into the coffin with its furious dynamics and malevolent musical delivery.
Guitarist Carlos Zea on the production for "Those, Who Come with the Mist": "The production was carried out at Área 51 Studios with sound engineer Juan Carlos Henao 'Chengo' (mastering, mixing, and overall production). What we aimed to achieve was an improvement over the sound we had reached with the band's 2022 EP."
On signing with Awakening Records: "We had conversations with several labels outside of Colombia. Raúl from Memento Mori recommended that I talk to Li from Awakening Records, as he believed the label would be interested in pressing our material. It will be very productive for the band to spread our music through Awakening Records and reach audiences in other countries that we haven't been able to access so far."
