BW 52 - Would This Have Saved the UK in Nuclear War?

Today on Bunker Wednesday we’re looking at one of the most iconic pieces of Cold War civil defence kit, the Plessey PDRM-82 radiation detector.

☢️ Issued from the early 1980s to the Royal Observer Corps (ROC) and local Civil Defence units, this bright orange fallout meter was designed to monitor deadly radiation levels after a nuclear strike.
🪖 The Army even had its own olive drab battlefield version, while ROC posts were fitted with the PDRM-82(F) a fixed model with an external probe for monitoring fallout outside the post.
