When hurricane-force winds slammed into our service territory and left more than 221,000 customers in the dark, OPPD jumped into action.
Field employees reported to outage sites. Customer care agents fielded thousands of calls with empathy and grace. OPPD’s Storm Team responded quickly and decisively, calling mutual aid partners and contractors who showed up to help in unprecedented numbers.
In a summer filled with 5 major storms and flooding, our team stepped up to its biggest challenge yet. Over eight days, more than 1,500 field workers battled scorching temperatures and widespread damage to confront the largest outage in OPPD history.
Hundreds more worked behind the scenes to keep field workers safe, coordinated, fed and ready to go at the beginning of each new day, and to update the public on their progress.
