Today I walk Mawun Beach on Lombok island and talk to a fishing family who has lived there for generations. We discuss the type of fish caught and what you can expect to pay. I look at some of the fish they have grilling out the front of their home.
I also meet an expat who's been living in Lombok for a year and a half and ask what it is about Lombok that draws Cam to the place. Cam also tells us about a visa change and a bit about the community here.
A warung owner tells me how his family operates a few businesses on the beach as well as his current business only being a month old.
I also come across local wedding preparations where woman are putting together their dress for the day while young men bring ceremonial chairs ready for the event. A group of musicians also arrive in preparation. The vibe for me became uncomfortable as a couple of guys made disparaging comments toward me making me feel it was time to leave.
A great day on Mawun beach.
