Hike with me near Lake Balaton - Szent György Hill, Szigliget🥾

Hello!

Welcome to another hiking adventure.
We are going on another hike near Lake Balaton - climbing Szent György Hill, seeing the basalt organ pipes and then walking to Szigliget to explore the castle.

Starting point: Nemesgulács - Kisapáti train station
From there: follow the green line between 2 white lines trail until it meets the National Blue Trail. Follow the National Blue Trail that leads to the stunning basalt organ pipes. If you are into geology or volcanoes - you will adore that place!
The National Blue Trail does not lead to the top of Szent György Hill, but you can reach the top by following the trail marked by a blue triangle.
This is what I did.
Then from the top I followed the trail marked by one red line between two white lines, until it met the National Blue Trail again.
The National Blue Trail leads to Szigliget, where you can visit the castle.
I highly recommend taking some time to do it, because the view is truly amazing from the castle: you can see Lake Balaton, Badacsony, Szent György Hill and many other volcanic hills in the area.

The National Blue Trail then leads to Badacsonytördemic - Szigliget train station where my hike ended.

The distance was 14,3 km from start to finish.

It took me about 5 hours to complete the hike with taking some time to rest occasionally.

Lake Balaton is my favourite place in Hungary with so much to offer! Each visit - no matter which part of it I visit - gives me so much joy!

If you are in Hungary - especially during the summer - you must visit Lake Balaton!
