Part 2 of our 4-day Central Florida motorcycle adventure.
We began Day 3 in Leesburg, heading north through scenic backroads toward the Ocala National Forest — the oldest national forest east of the Mississippi and home to one of the largest sand pine scrub ecosystems in the world.
From there we rode through the Emeralda Marsh Conservation Area, a lush wetland teeming with wildlife, then down to the Tiki Bar & Grill on Lake Minneola for lunch with a lakeside view.
The afternoon took us off-road, entering the Richloam Wildlife Management Area near Bay Lake — and dirt trails perfect for adventure bikes. We explored deep into the woods, crossed sandy paths, and faced a few close calls (Dean nearly bumped into me when I stopped!).
After a quick roadside repair for José’s electrical issue and a fun “orange break” courtesy of Alexis, we reached Sebring, home of the famous 12 Hours of Sebring Race. We stayed at Hotel 7 on curve #7 of the racetrack and woke up the next morning to the sound of cars testing on the circuit.
Day 4 took us south through Okeechobee City and onto the Martin Grade Scenic Highway, a 12-mile road shaded by a tunnel of century-old oak trees — one of Florida’s most beautiful drives. But soon the sky darkened, and we found ourselves riding through one of the worst rainstorms of the trip.
Completely soaked, we returned to Café 27, our starting point, where dozens of bikers were sheltering from the rain. As the storm eased, each of us rode home, ending another unforgettable adventure.
🌧️ Time to plan the next ride.
