On our way to Death Valley and Palm Springs we took the scenic way, join us for a beautiful scenic drive as we head South from Oregon on the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, sections 6a, 6, 5, 4 and 3. We are challenged by snow storms and snow drifts and are forced to re-route on scenic dirt roads as we head through the lava flows and volcanic vents of Lava Beds National Monument and the trees of Modoc National Forest.
As we drive South you will see quaint towns, volcanic vents, lakes, amazing vistas, fire scorched forests and towards the end, towns that were raised to the ground by the largest most destructive wildfire of 2021, the Dixie Fire.
