Detailed Ferrari 458 Spider Review - Future Ferrari Collectable (Minus The Wheels!)

In this review, we got to spend the day with one of our all-time favorite exotic cars, the Ferrari 458 Spider in Bianco Avus with carbon fiber sport seats. If this ain't a future Ferrari mid-engine classic, we don't know what is. From the Ferrar 458 looks which are aging so well to the glorious sounds of the naturally aspirated 4.5 Liter flat-plane crank V8, we think you will enjoy this review.

This 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider had custom 22/21 inch Forgiato Wheels wrapped in PS4 tires. It also had a carbon fiber wrap over the Spider components giving it a nice color contrast between the roof and body lines. The interior of this Ferrari 458 was also solid with black leather, white color contrast stitching, and very desirable carbon fiber sports seats. These Ferrar 458 sport seats were actually adjustable and quite comfortable, better than I remember. Much more comfortable than the Sena seats or Porsche Carbon Fiber buckets.

I will say, and I said it in this review, the Ferrari 458 is arguably the best-sounding engine ever. Just listen to it screen through the POV drive. The glorious 7-speed dual-clutch transmission also works flawlessly, so good in automatic that I question how this is even an exotic supercar! But put the Ferrari 458 Spider into manual mode, and lay into that gas pedal and my god does this car move.

The 4.5 Liter flat-plane crank V8 makes 562 HP and around 400 ft pounds of torque. It redlines at 9K RPM and hits 60 in 3.3 seconds. If you get the Ferrari 458 Italia (coupe), it gets to 60 in 3.0 flat which even today is still a very fast car. Overall, I loved the feeling and the sounds of the last of a dying breed of naturally aspired mid-engine Ferrari powerplants. Truly, the engine is what makes this Ferrari 458 Spider a future collectible.

Overall, we think that the Ferrari 458 Spider is becoming a great guy again. What was a solid $280-$330k used car back just six months ago has dropped down now to the mid $200's with the possibility these cars could get even lower. With the fed continuing to raise rates, who knows what we could see in the exotic car market as it's becoming cash buyers only with rates this high.
