Tube Bass Pre Prototype Pt 18 - Ready for Testing

In this episode, I finally finish soldering and get the tube bass preamp ready for its first round of testing! After weeks of setbacks due to a nasty case of trigger finger, I’m back at the bench—splint off, hand mostly working—and making progress. If you’re into DIY tube preamps, high-voltage electronics, or just love building gear by hand, this one’s for you.

I walk through the final soldering steps and prepare the 12AX7-based tube preamp for its upcoming high-voltage tests. This is a key milestone in this ongoing bass preamp build series, and I’m excited to see how this circuit performs. Whether you’re building your own guitar tube amp, tube pedal, or want to learn more about vacuum tube circuits, this episode offers great insight into layout, grounding, lead dressing, and final pre-test checks.
