NRS C-Store Insider Podcast - Big Jump for August Same Store Sales

For August, NRSInsights reported strong same-store sales growth across its nationwide network of independent retailers, reflecting both year-over-year and month-over-month gains in sales, units sold, and transactions. The upward momentum marked an acceleration compared to July, supported by higher average prices and increased consumer activity at the store level.

Key Points Included:
Same-store sales rose 8.3% year-over-year and 3.4% month-over-month, showing stronger growth than in July.
Units sold climbed 4.3% year-over-year and 1.8% month-over-month, reversing July’s month-over-month decline.
Transactions per store increased 2.6% year-over-year and 2.2% month-over-month, signaling more frequent customer visits.

As of August 31, 2025, the NRS retail network comprised approximately 37,100 active terminals nationwide, scanning purchases at approximately 32,200 independent retailers including convenience stores, bodegas, liquor stores, grocers, and tobacco and sundries sellers, predominantly serving urban consumers.
