Snowbird Creek starts just east of the North Carolina/Tennessee state line just below Hoglaw Gap. It flows into Lake Santeetlah near the town of Robbinsville, NC and is ultimately a tributary to the Cheoah River. There are Rainbow, Brown, Brook, and sporadic reports of Steelhead Trout in Snowbird Creek. There are giant moss covered boulders throughout the creek and ferns growing along the banks. A weekend in early August is a great time to camp this area because school is back in session and the leaves haven’t begun changing so there isn’t a ton of people to contend with for the best spot. My goal was to showcase Snowbird Creek and the beauty of its surroundings.
