Sir Keir Starmer has refused to say whether he knew Lord Mandelson was friends with Jeffrey Epstein.
Lord Mandelson on Tuesday admitted more “very embarrassing” details of his friendship with Epstein will come out.
The British ambassador to the US claimed it was “perhaps because I was a gay man” that Epstein did not introduce him to women.
Private notes written by the ambassador in a book for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003 surfaced earlier this week. In the messages, Lord Mandelson referred to Epstein as his “best pal” and included a photograph of himself in a bathrobe alongside the paedophile financier.
