In Geyserville, nestled in northern Sonoma County, we visited Zialena — a family-owned winery named after Zia (“Auntie”) Lena. With deep Italo-American roots in the region, the estate crafts elegant Zinfandels, scrumptious Cabs, a refreshing skin-contact Sangiovese rosé, a crisp Sauvignon Blanc, and their signature Capella blend — all made from grapes grown right on the property, fermented in concrete vessels.

During our tasting, Martin (Zialena’s tasting room manager) poured two Zins from vines planted just 500 feet apart. The difference in character? Striking. It’s a perfect reminder of how terroir shapes a wine’s personality.
