For the past 30 years, the Callier Center has provided intervention programming for individuals on the autism spectrum. According to the CDC, 1 in 68 children have autism spectrum disorder.
In this video, clinicians describe autism spectrum disorder and introduce two preschool programs for children with autism, including the Preverbal Communications Program and Early CLASS.
The Preverbal Communications Program was the first program at Callier designed for children with autism in 1985. Our goal is to establish social communicative abilities in the children, so that they become interested in social interaction and communication.
The Early CLASS (Communication Language And Social Skills) is a classroom-based program for children on the autism spectrum from ages 2 1/2 to 5 years. We develop treatment plans on an individualized basis and use visual strategies to support language growth and comprehension.
