NER SCCA RAL Points Event 6 08/11/24 | E46 325xi Touring

This event was hosted by the New England Region SCCA, and took place at Devens Airfield in Ayer, MA. The fastest raw time on this day was a 50.804, set in the 1994 Citation FF1600. The fastest raw time set by a street car was a 50.806 (.002 slower) set in a psm souped S13 240sx. The PAX winner was a 43.48 set in a 2017 miata. My theoretical fastest time (compilation of all the fastest splits in post editing) was a 58.392, which was only 0.43 seconds faster than my fastest run which was the second to last run of the day.

What an event this was! I won (the novice class)! I recently picked up a used set of Hoosier R7s from someone that ran them on his E36 M3 time attack car. This was my first event running on them, and obviously they made a huge difference, but still getting used to it and a lot to learn. However I had to class up from G Street to D Street Prepared, as R7s are not legal to run in street class, which did put me at a slight pax disadvantage since the wagon is certainly not a DSP car. Regardless, I just managed to take the win after a very fun and close battle with the Mazdaspeed 3 in GS. As a reference, there is an E46 330i sedan in GS who runs on RE71Rs and whose pace I am usually around 2-3 seconds off of. On this day his best time was a 61.48, so on my all-seasons I may have been around 63-64, thus the R7s shaved some 5-6 seconds from my base time. Very cool.

Still looking to show more telemetry data, but not looking to drop the $$$ on those fancy things out there, will probably do something with arduino. Still looking to do the gauge cluster/foot cam. The Vantrue N4 Pro used to take these videos does record gps data at i believe 1 Hz, which is no good for this kind of thing, and it is not easily downloaded. Alas.
