Porsche 911 Carrera (997) diy mesh grill (no bumper removal and total cost is only $9.00) Part I

Here is a quick video on a diy project to install aluminum grills on the lower bumper intake vents for a 2009 Porsche 911 Carrera S. The same process should work for other Porsche's with open lower intakes as well. Doesn't require front bumper removal and it is attached with small zip ties (believe me, it is not a sloppy installation this way and you can barely notice the black zip ties in the corners at all). It's certainly worth trying, if you don't like it you have lost just $9.00 and can go always get the $300 kits available out there and remove the bumper to install it with the screws from behind.
These grills help prevent damage to the exposed radiators and also help keep debris collection to a minimum. All items are available locally and were purchased at Home Depot for approximately $9.00. I chose to keep the center opening open so that I can still get in there to clean out leaves and other debris annually. Main goal of this diy is to prevent any direct impact of road debris to the radiators. The material is sturdy and the process is much easier than other commercially available kits that require removal of the front bumper, it's a lot less expensive as well!

Note: you can also secure the grill in the center. Look at the horizontal grates on the opening from underneath and you can see a small hole where the removed vertical grate was. attaching a zip tie from underneath the horizontal piece will make the attachment in the center totally invisible. Only the ties on the sides are visible at all and like I said, you'd have to be right up against the car and on your knees to notice them.
