I didn't mean to say I'd be doing demonstrations during this video! Sorry about that. One thing I'm not sure I made clear is that the Rockaway pattern was common before the McKinnons but they popularized it. I doubt it was called the Rockaway pattern before they made them in Rockaway New Jersey. They apparently made some very funky and unique axes. As time goes by these treasures become more and more rare. I want to do my best to help preserve pieces of history like that. The unique and uncommon strike me the most. I've yet to find or even see a rockaway pattern hatchet from the 1700s but I would love to!
