Chicken Bharta At Home ঘরে তৈরি Chicken ভর্তা #chickenbharta

Chicken Bharta is a rich and flavorful North Indian-style shredded chicken curry. It has a creamy texture, thanks to a combination of yogurt, cream, and sometimes eggs, making it unique compared to other Indian chicken dishes. It is mildly spiced and pairs well with naan, roti, or rice.

Ingredients:

For Cooking the Chicken:

500g boneless chicken (preferably breast or thigh)

2 cups water

1 bay leaf

1-inch cinnamon stick

2 cloves

2 green cardamoms

½ tsp salt


For the Curry:

2 tbsp oil

1 tbsp butter

1 bay leaf

1 onion (finely chopped)

1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

1 tomato (pureed)

½ tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder

1 tsp coriander powder

½ tsp garam masala

½ tsp kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)

½ cup yogurt (whisked)

1 boiled egg (mashed)

2 tbsp fresh cream

Salt to taste

Fresh coriander leaves for garnish


Instructions:

1. Cook the Chicken:

In a pot, add chicken, water, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms, and salt.

Boil until the chicken is tender (about 15 minutes).

Shred the cooked chicken and set aside. Reserve some stock.



2. Prepare the Curry:

Heat oil and butter in a pan. Add a bay leaf.

Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

Stir in ginger-garlic paste and cook until the raw smell disappears.

Add tomato puree and cook until oil separates.

Add turmeric, chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.



3. Combine Everything:

Lower the heat and add whisked yogurt gradually, stirring continuously.

Add shredded chicken and mix well.

Pour in some reserved chicken stock and simmer for 5 minutes.
