Here I show the removal of the Borg Warner T56 transmission from my Trans AM so that I can replace the clutch and machine the flywheel.
*** Note that when resurfacing the factory GM LT1 T56 flywheel, the flywheel must also be balanced with the new clutch kit assembled (pressure plate and clutch disc bolted to flywheel) so bring the flywheel and clutch kit to your machinist.
Removal takes approximately 30 minutes from start to finish (transmission out) for an intermediate to advanced DYI'er and is fairly easy, even for those just starting out.
Relevant for anyone who owns and/or works on third or fourth F-body cars including Camaros, Firebirds, Formulas, Trans AMs and/or Firehawks with the T56 six-speed transmission.
