To proceed to the next Gym Badge, each Pokémon caught or breed must have the correct EVs, Nature, and Ability, as defined by its Smogon set. However, the following are not required to progress past a Gym Badge and may be completed at any time: Moveset, Held Item, Evolution.
Challenge Rules (Simplified):
Mandatory battles that give incorrect EVs can be done using extra or previously trained Pokémon. These count as Exception Battles.
Only Unova-native Pokémon will be EV-trained.
Elite Four and rotation battles don’t follow the challenge rules.
If required EVs aren’t obtainable yet, we can wait until the correct wild Pokémon become available.
Hidden Power types must match Smogon, but Pokémon needing it can wait until breeding becomes available.
Egg Moves can only be used once breeding and required parents are available (or once Dream World access allows them).
Sets from Smogon that require IV spreads will be ignored.
If every competitive set requires impossible IVs, that Pokémon becomes Untrainable.
Pokémon needing Dream World abilities or moves exclusive to Black 2/White 2 are also Untrainable.
