US-India Trade Deal: Five Key Hints It's Imminent Post-Trump Tariffs

India has dramatically turned the tables on US trade negotiations, forcing Washington to drop its tariff threats and accept New Delhi’s terms after months of deadlock. Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal declared the US “very happy” with progress and ready to “sign on the dotted line,” while PM Modi confirmed a warm call with President Trump agreeing to expand cooperation in defence, energy, technology and trade.

The breakthrough positions India as a prized counterweight to China in the Indo-Pacific, with Modi-Trump momentum now driving toward a formal bilateral trade deal that could be sealed before year-end.
