Over 600 newly trained police constables will be deployed to various police stations in KwaZulu-Natal.
This was revealed by the KZN government and the provincial police, giving an update yesterday on the province's second quarter crime statistics and crime prevention initiatives.
They indicated that between July and September, contact crimes such as sexual offences and common robbery decreased by 52 cases.
More than 1 400 cases of murder were registered for this period, with 558 arrests.
