Jaylen Warren burst onto the scene in 2022 as an undrafted free agent running back, giving Najee Harris a run for his money in the Pittsburgh Steelers backfield late in the season. The story of Jaylen Warren is that of a career underdog and overachiever; after not getting much attention the majority of his high school career, he burst onto the Utah high school scene his senior season, breaking the states all time single season rushing record, running for over 3k yards. This incredible feat got Jaylen recognized as Utah Mr. Football in 2016; despite this, Warren didn’t get significant college offers, opting to attend Snow College, where he’d run for 1k yards his first 2 seasons there before transferring to Utah State. After an underwhelming 2 seasons there, he transferred to Oklahoma State to finish his collegiate career, where he put up an impressive 1,216 yards along with 11 rushing touchdowns. Despite this, he went undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft, but had a good rookie year as the backup running back on the Pittsburgh Steelers, putting up 379 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 77 carries, while also adding in 28 catches on 33 targets for 214 receiving yards. In todays video, I break down the strengths, weaknesses and tendencies of Jaylen Warren in order to answer a few different questions: Can Jaylen Warren breakout in 2023? What will his production look like if Najee Harris remains the starter for the Steelers all season? Can Warren become a high end running back if something happens to Najee Harris, such as an injury?
