I see so many student sub-consciously using the 'action figure' approach to drawing poses. I even see it recommended sometimes by some teachers, though they don't call it that.

It's natural for us to think of human bodies working in this stiff and robotic way - it's a lot simpler. However, if you can just add a few more moving parts to the 'mannequin' of the figure in your head, your drawings will come to life.
