In today's lesson, Teacher Helena introduces the Chinese character "惊 (jīng)", which means "to be scared or surprised" and is used in words such as 吃惊 (chījīng) = to be amazed.
Students can become familiar with how to recognize a typical Chinese character like " 惊 (jīng) by learning the two parts of the written form.
Taking "惊 (jīng)" as an example: the left part of this character is related to "心 (xīn)", which can be related to the meaning of the character overall.
In addition, the right part is "京 (jīng)", which is related to its pronunciation.
Learning this kind of Chinese character via their left and right parts will help students to remember them easily. Helena shows students more details about this kind of Chinese character in the video. There are other Chinese characters which are suitable for this learning in this method. These other characters include "怕 (pà)" and "慌 (huāng)".
