100km through the desert. On foot. In Tunisia. For charity.
Let’s get this out the way: I am not an ultrarunner. I’m a hybrid athlete who likes lifting heavy things, chasing volcanoes, and occasionally doing something that makes my knees question all my life choices. But when I was asked to become an ambassador for a new veterans’ charity… and then told the first challenge was a 100km ultramarathon through the desert… I said yes before my brain could kick in.
This isn’t about chasing medals or PBs. It’s about resilience. About showing what’s possible when you train for life, not just for aesthetics. It’s about using fitness for something bigger than yourself. And it’s about raising money and awareness for veterans who’ve been through real battles - the kind that don’t end when the war does.
I’ll be documenting everything:
• The training (some good, some… catastrophic)
• The physical prep
• The mental side of doing hard things voluntarily
• And yes, probably some moaning about my feet
This won’t be a polished documentary. It’s going to be raw, sweaty, and occasionally a bit ridiculous. I’m going to share it all: the build-up, the setbacks, the gear that works (and the stuff that ruins your nipples), and what it really takes to cross a hundred kilometres of sand under a burning sun.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to suffer on purpose, to push yourself to a place that’s way past your comfort zone, or to do something utterly stupid for a good cause then this is the journey.
Subscribe, stick around, and join me on the road to too far.
Let’s see if the hybrid fitness lifestyle really holds up when the rubber hits the sand.
