释迦牟尼佛诞生时呈种种殊胜瑞祥，阳光普照、九龙吐水、每走一步，就是一朵莲花。佛陀的诞生、成道、涅槃，都在五月的月圆之日。"卫塞"是月圆的意思，象征佛陀德智圆满、福慧具足，证悟清净、平等、光明的境界。
When Buddha Sakyamuni was born, various auspicious signs showed, the sun illuminated every corner of the land, nine streams of water poured from the sky, lotus blossoms rose in his footsteps. Buddha's birth, enlightenment and nirvana fall on the full moon in 5th lunar month. The word "Vesak" means full moon, it symbolizes Buddha's perfect morality, wisdom and blessing; attain enlightenment of equality, peace and intelligence.
