Don't let the name fool or scare you! Silly naming from the 1800's. Suicide Cave is a small horizontal cave located in Washington County, Indiana in Salem. It is a horizontal cave of less than 5,000 feet which can be explored in a few hours. This cave is a nicely formed and decorated example and offers a little of everything in the way of challenges. With a steep slope just at the entrance to crawling, slippery mud and a few areas of exposed drops in excess of 25 feet are some of the hazards and challenges! Overall, this cave can be safely traversed and offers the group a well-earned reward of a large upper formation gallery that is an easy climb to enter. In the gallery, you will see stalactites, stalagmites, soda straws, drapery formations, cave bacon as well as nicely formed helictites! There is an area that, while it is overall easy, it can be a bit intimidating to those that fear heights or possibly falling. The trick is staying as close to the wall as possible...this area is not depicted in the video, unfortunately.
