Ever wondered how to create a high-end shoe advertisement image like you'd see from Nike or Asics? In this video, I walk you through how I built and lit this floating sneaker shot, using everyday gear and a DIY lighting setup.
I'm showing you how I lit and photographed this running shoe using just one light and a bunch of small reflectors to bounce light back into cool areas of the shoe. I also set it up on a light stand so that it looks like it's floating. I used a Canon 5D Mark III along with Godox AD400 Pros and AD200 Pros—also known by Adorama as the Flashpoint Xplor 400 Pro and Evolv 200 Pro.
This behind-the-scenes breakdown covers everything from rigging the shoe with a magic arm and clamp, to bounce lighting with mirror cards and creating that pro commercial look—all without a huge studio.
Perfect for photographers wanting to sharpen their product photography skills and build portfolio-level ad shots.
