NVIDIA has shifted its production strategy for the GeForce RTX 50 series to cope with a global shortage of GDDR7 and GDDR6 memory. While ASUS and NVIDIA confirmed on January 16, 2026, that all models including the RTX 5070 Ti remain in production, supply is extremely limited. NVIDIA is currently prioritizing the RTX 5060 8GB and RTX 5060 Ti 8GB because their lower memory requirements allow the company to fulfill more orders with less VRAM. Conversely, high-VRAM models like the RTX 5070 Ti 16GB and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB are being deprioritized, causing their retail prices to spike between $1,200 and $1,600. This reallocation is driven by AI data centers outbidding the gaming sector for memory chips, as data centers are projected to consume 70% of global memory production this year. Analysts warn that this focus on entry-level 8GB cards—which many enthusiasts consider inadequate for modern 1440p gaming—will likely persist through the first half of 2026.
