Colorful Kinsale and Cork City - A Short Visit

At the end of Day 4 of our most recent Irish Road Trip we faced rush hour traffic to finally end up in Cork City. Wade through the muck of parking issues with us, and we’ll show you our accomodation, Shandon Bells Guest House. Then we’re on the go again with a walk through the city to locate a pub that really lives up to its name! Join us for dinner at the wonderful seafood restaurant Quinlan’s, recommended by a local.

The next morning we’re up early for coffee overlooking the River Lee and a trip to the foodie paradise that is the English Market, where we pick up a terrific lunch to go as well as some souvenirs.

Then we’re off to colorful Kinsale, to see the the harbor, the shops and restaurants in town, Desmond Castle, the Carmelite Friary, and the Stoney Steps, which pay homage to less-than-well-behaved women! We lunch at the waterfront where we’re kept company by local Jackdaws.

Back in Cork City at day’s end, we wander different streets on a return to our now-favorite pub, the Welcome Inn. On a walk back to the B&B, Karen  finally gets to try Murphy’s ice cream. Then we head to Fat Badger Pizza, a UCC staple on Western Road before calling it a night.
