I went hiking on the Gore Creek Trail in Vail, Colorado and noticed that some areas have a lot of dead and dying trees. I think it may be due to the beetles that are infesting and killing trees here in Colorado. The bark on some of the trees looks really strange. I've never seen trees look like this. Some of the bark looks like it is literally melting off of the trees.
