Exquisite Pen Knife from Scrap Copper: Hand Engraving and Woodwork Perfection

🔴Welcome to my channel! In this video, I'll take you through the step-by-step process of transforming a scrap copper rod into an exquisite and functional pen knife. This unique DIY project showcases a blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern techniques, including hand engraving, woodworking, and metalworking.

*Materials and Tools Used:*
Scrap Copper Rod
Hand Push Graver
Copper Sheet
Stainless Steel Bolt
DW40 Spray
Epoxy Glue
Sandpapers (various grits)
Broken Graver Handle (for the wooden handle)

*Process Breakdown:*

1. *Filing and Shaping the Rod:*
I started by filing the scrap copper rod horizontally to shape it properly.
After achieving the desired shape, I drew the blade pattern onto the rod.

2. *Carving the Blade:*
Using a hand push graver, I meticulously carved the blade pattern into the copper rod.
Once the blade slot was ready, I moved on to creating the lid.

3. *Making the Lid:*
I cut a rectangle from a copper sheet and shaped it with a file.
A hole was then made on the lid, which I used to mark the corresponding spot on the copper rod.
I drilled a hole into the rod and threaded it using a stainless steel bolt, lubricated with DW40 spray to ease the process.

4. *Finishing Touches:*
All parts were sanded to achieve a fine and mirror-like finish.
I prepared the handle by repurposing the handle from my broken graver.
A 12mm hole was drilled into the wooden handle, where the copper rod was secured using epoxy glue.

5. *Branding and Assembly:*
For a personal touch, I cut a circular piece of copper and engraved my logo onto it, then attached it to the wooden handle with epoxy glue.
Finally, the blade was inserted, the lid was secured with a bolt, and the pen knife was ready for use.

This project not only showcases the transformation of a seemingly useless piece of scrap into a beautiful and functional tool but also highlights the importance of precision and attention to detail in craftsmanship.
