How To Reset Subaru Forester Tailgate (How To Reprogram Subaru Forester Tailgate). In this video tutorial I will show you how to reset Subaru Forester tailgate

Here’s how to do it:
Disconnect the Battery
• Locate the car battery in the engine compartment.
• Disconnect the negative terminal and wait for a few minutes.
• Reconnect the terminal. The tailgate should have reset. (This procedure will also reset all the electrical systems in your vehicle.).

Use the Tailgate Release Button
• Locate the release button on the dashboard or center console. Check if your car has this button, or confirm its presence and the specific location in the owner’s manual.
• Press and hold the button for 10 seconds until you hear a beep or see a light indicator flash on the dashboard.
• Note that the dashboard release button works when all four car doors are unlocked.
• If you hear three beeps when pressing the tailgate button below the Subaru logo (under the lift handle), press and hold the button for 5–10 seconds until you hear a click indicating the hatch has released.
• Release your hold on the button and fully open the tailgate.
• Now close the door until it latches securely. You should hear a click.

Use the Manual Release Lever
Some Subaru Foresters have a manual release lever near the latch mechanism inside the cargo area. If your tailgate is stuck, try using the lever to open and close it manually. If the lever successfully operates your tailgate, the malfunction may be due to a problem with your vehicle’s electrical system.

Replace the Tailgate System Fuse
• Find the fuse box either in the engine compartment or the passenger cabin. Its location varies by Subaru Forester model, so consult your owner’s manual for the precise location.
• Check the manual to find out the exact fuse responsible for the tailgate and see if it has been blown.
• If the fuse is blown, replace it with another with similar amperage.
