Friday Night Funkin' is a rhythm game in which the player controls a character called Boyfriend, who must defeat a series of opponents to continue dating his significant other, Girlfriend. The player must pass multiple levels, referred to as "Weeks" in-game, containing three songs each. Each week, the player faces a different opponent, though some deviate in structure from this via the inclusion of multiple opponents. During gameplay, the opponent will sing a pattern of notes represented as arrows, which the player must then mirror by using their set keybinds, by default the arrow keys (↑, ↓, ←, →) and W, A, S, and D keys on a keyboard. Some songs introduce more complicated patterns, with the player's pattern sometimes varying from the opponent's or both singers engaging in a duet.

Funkin.Avi is a mod created and currently directed by Demolitiondon96, Domingo and Yama Haki, which revolves around a scenario based on the classic Mickey Mouse cartoons and the infamous Suicide Mouse creepypasta. The main storyline conceals dark knowledge, revealing a twisted narrative that is about to unfold. In the .AVI universe, the protagonists find themselves right in between several devilish situations, some worse than others. Let's hope they can make it out alive.

The main plot unfolds with Avier Mouse (for simplicty, let's just call him Mickey) facing the loss of his love, Minnie Mouse, due to his excessive dedication to work in search of extra money. After several months of persistent loneliness Mickey Mouse encounters a small boy who becomes a potential source of solace in his melancholy. This delicate narrative explores Mickey Mouse's emotional depth, highlighting the conflict between external demands and his need for connection amid his loneliness. Meeting the young boy ignites a spark of hope, initiating a journey of rediscovery and potential healing for Mickey Mouse's troubled soul.
