He came rushing in, out of breath and worried.
A few days ago, I was happily chatting with my colleague at my desk when, all of a sudden, another colleague said, “Aren’t you supposed to be at an appointment at 2 p.m.?” It was already 1:45, and I had to drive there—it takes about 15 minutes! I had completely forgotten about it, panicked, and ran out of the office. Take a guess—did I make it on time?

Out of habit, he looked at the clock.
What’s your habit? Mine at work is being the “human clock reminder.” One of my colleagues finishes at 3 p.m., and if he’s still sitting there, I’ll call out, “~~san, it’s time! Aren’t you leaving?” For everyone else—including my boss—I’ll say, “Five minutes to go, people! Get ready to log off!” My desk faces the clock, so I just can’t help it—I’ve basically become the office timekeeper.
