I finally got around to implementing my filtration design on my 25-year-old Harbor Freight parts washer.

In this video, I explain what I did to install the filtration system as well as show my mistakes, so you don't have to make the same mistakes.

The main improvements to designs of other users are:

1.) Installing the filter above the fluid level, to prevent the fluid from siphoning from the tank when the filter is removed. Other users have installed the filter below the fluid level and had to install an additional shut-off valve to prevent siphoning.

2.) Using bulkhead fittings rather than route hoses through holes in the side of the tank. Hoses routed through holes in the tank will allow splashed fluid to leak and run down the outside of the tank. Bulkhead fittings prevent such leaks.

3.) Adding diagonal bracing to the legs after moving the shelf to the bottom.
