It's June 27, 1999, and Michael Jackson is performing the second leg of his 'MJ & Friends' concert in Munich, Germany. Everything seems to be going well until the unexpected happens: during the final gospel of 'Earth Song,' while the King of Pop is on the flying platform known as the 'bridge of no return,' the central part of the structure collapses due to a technical malfunction.

Michael immediately realizes what's happening and holds on tightly to the bridge's railings until he disappears below the stage level. The crash is terrible, the thud deafening. After a few seconds, someone reaches him to check his condition: Michael is visibly shocked, but he refuses to stop the show. So he grabs one of the bridge's ropes and returns to the stage, continuing his performance without showing any signs of pain or distress.

After 'You Are Not Alone,' the concert's last song, Michael blows one last kiss to his audience, returns to his dressing room, and collapses. Immediately taken to a Munich hospital, he is diagnosed with chest and back injuries. When asked how he managed to continue the show in that state, he replied, "You know, the only thing I heard in my head was my father's voice telling me, 'Michael, don't disappoint your audience!'"
